MY SURROGACY STORY

I’ve been asked often why I wanted to be a Surrogate...if I would do it again...any regrets.

In all honesty it was not what I expected, but everything I could hope for. It brought my partner and I closer together and was an opportunity to show my kids how selfless acts can change lives. I love my Intended Parents and Surrogate baby (now 3!), they are my chosen family. I feel very proud and honoured that I've spent time in my life this way.

Many people also ask me if it was hard to "give the baby away." Not to sound cold but, No. The way she came to me was anything but "natural". It was magical but not natural. When you literally watch the moment you get pregnant on a TV screen it's a bit surreal. I never felt like she was “mine”, but I did/do love her as my niece and we have a special bond for sure. I felt like I was giving her back to people I love, not giving her away. She's hilarious and I'm so lucky to receive pictures all the time. I miss her, but as much as I miss her dads too.

Besides the fact that this was also a great experience for me, one of the main drives I had to do this was that I believe this is a way to be an advocate for the normalization of same sex families.

I decided to open Hive Surrogacy so that I can continue to help any family that wishes to experience the joy of parenthood. Fertility is a privilege. This is something that has rung true over and over.

So I ask, If you've ever considered being a surrogate or know anyone else who has or feel comfortable spreading the word, I would be so thankful. I'm on a mission for love and baby toes!
